In the heart of Gujarat’s Charotar region, the ancient Mahakali Mataji temple stands in the village of Kasor (Bhalej), located 12 km from Anand, 22 km from Dakor, and 18 km from Nadiad.

As per belief, Mataji appeared in a dream to Kadubhai Govindbhai Patel of Kasor village. Following her guidance, he excavated the “Kund” lake on the eastern side of the village, where Mataji’s idol was revealed. A temple was built on the hillock beside the Kund lake, and the idol was installed on Chaitra Sud-8 (Ashtami) of Samvat 1735. The temple is thus approximately 347 years old.

Navratri is celebrated with great splendour during both Aso and Chaitra months. On Ashtami (Durga Ashtami) of both Navratris, a grand havan is performed in which over 1,000 coconuts are offered. Devotees travel from far and wide for darshan on Ashtami day.

Development works continue at the temple, and a flood of devotees arrives for darshan. Mataji fulfils all wishes of those who worship her with a true heart.
